The Gort church records have been filmed, but only back to 1848, unfortunately. However, Gort is not a bad drive from Shannon Airport, if you're willing to adjust your travel plans. You could write the parish priest at St. Colman's in Gort and ask if the records in local custody go back further, and if they do, could you view them. The area really is lovely, including the Burren, the Cliffs of Moher, and the ruins of Kilmacduagh. (My grgrandmother came from Gort, and I'd be interested in his answer myself.) Diane
My ancestors, Thomas Nagle and Juliann Hanlon Nagle were from Gort. They left there about 1847. I will be in London during February. It will be possible to make one side trip--either to Dublin or Belfast. Of course, I would love to make it to Gort, but transportation becomes a problem from London. Would it be productive to do research in London? I would appreciate any research and/or travel suggestions. Karen [email protected]

Since you have a marriage date, you should be able to find the civil record through the GRO or LDS. That will give you the fathers' names and confirm the RC parish is Athenry. Athenry RC records (up to 1890) are on LDS film 1279207, items 6 and 7. Diane

I forgot about this site I used in when I frist starting to look at my Irish history. http://www.irishtimes.com/ancestor/surname/ Good Luck Phyllis
Hi Phyllis. Thanks for trying to help on this question. I just went to the Mailing Lists and this is what it says for changing old email addresses that are in the Archives. I haven't checked out the Message Boards yet. I think I'll just 'let sleeping dogs lie'. Thanks again. Terry Rootsweb answer to changing outdated email addresses in old posts: Answer Addresses appearing in our mailing list archives cannot be changed. If you feel it is important, you could repost your query with your new address. Please do not repost more than a few each day. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Phyllis M.
