    3. There were Finnertys living and still living above Kilchreest (up the Slieve Aughty Mountain). Address might be Ballinacurragh, although it is slightly past Ballinacurragh. Can't think of that townland. Ballanoo? They were there before my mother and she was born in 1908.

    2. All three sons are listed on Irish Family History Foundation website; East Galway; under Portumna. Instant gratification you view the record online. All three are also listed familysearch.org Irish Index. On Griffiths, there is a John Feenarty listed in Coos South; same general area. Also James and Thomas Feenarty listed for these townlands, Coos North and South along the border with Clare. Which other child are you referring to as I know only of John and Thomas. On the BVRI discs John Finnerty, son of John and Catherine Costello, is listed on the civil registration as being from Drummin,Galway, also on the discs is another son Thomas, born 1871,listed as registered at Portumna. 3. 1911 census. It's being run by FindMyPast (www.1911census.co.uk), who charge credits (#0.09 each) to view each record. It's 10 credits to get a transcript, and 30 credits. Wales is not available yet, but if your folks were in another UK county in 1911, the below technique might help you. --------- Forwarded ---------- This is from another list; the credits go to "Suffolk Sue" and it works just fine. 1911 for free (to a point) 'cos you don't get all the details, but you get all the folk in the one household. "Using the standard search function, find the person you want and refine the search criteria to eliminate the others so that only that one person is on the page. You might do this by use of age, gender, year, county, district, etc. Once you have found the person and they are the ONLY one shown on the page, look at the URL and you will see that in the address is the word "results2" or "results4". Change the number to a 3 then hit enter to do the search again. When the results are displayed, scroll to the bottom of the page and an address is shown. Now copy the address (including any errors) and go back to the "search" page. Remove EVERYTHING you had in previously, put a comma (or a full stop) in the surname box (it has to have something) and paste the address in to the RESIDENCE field and press "Search" The search results should now include all residents of the house." ____________________________________________________________ Click to lower your debt and consolidate your monthly expenses. http://thirdpartyoffers.juno.com/TGL2141/fc/PnY6rw2O7ERD1lxK7iLUzBgNKuAwsgk5QC3FdjPqZM8W6sGNqE3LQ/

    2. I can't find those towns on the townland atlas. However, the civil index is now online on the familysearch site, and it shows 3 John Finnertys born in Galway in 1867. The complete registrations are in vol. 9, p. 26 (Ballinasloe district), vol. 14, p. 57 (Ballinrobe), and vol. 14, p. 458 (Portumna). Vol. 9 is on LDS film 101148 and vol. 14 is on 101153. You could order copies of the registrations from the LDS for $2 apiece. Diane
