    1. [IRL-GALWAY] marriage record ?--DOLAN & KELLY
    2. Listers: I am going to ask a nearly impossible question. Would appreciate a marriage record search in Galway Ireland.? NO parish name known but one clue I have is the family lived in Galway, but attended Catholic church in Co. Clare. Patrick KELLY, b. abt. 1820 and Mary Ann DOLAN, b. 1825.? I do NOT know the names of this couple's parents.? I do know that Mary Ann had two brothers, Martin James Dolan, b. 1822 and Thomas Dolan, b. 1826.? It is *believed* that Mary Ann, her two brothers, and possibly Patrick Kelly left Ireland mid to late 1840's.? They settled in the US>?Pennsylvania, Centre, Westmoreland, and Allegheny counties. Any help most appreciated. Thank you. Marybeth C. [email protected]

    2. Rosemary
    3. Irish Times 24 October 1933 Colonel C. A. Lindbergh, accompanied by his wife, made a dramatic landing in Galway Harbour this afternoon. The intrepid airman, flying a seven hundred and fifty horsepower single-engined Wright Cyclone seaplane, left Southampton water at 11:15a.m., flew direct to Queenstown and Cork, circled over Valentia, and without landing anywhere in the South of Ireland came north along the coast of Galway. With fair visibility and a slight mist the Colonel's seaplane hovered over Galway about 4:45 p.m. After doing one circle over the city Colonel Lindbergh brought his seaplane to rest just outside Nimo's Pier, within four hundred yards from the Galway docks. Hundreds of citizens, who had apparently expected the visit, immediately rushed to the docks.

    2. Keep in mind that the IFHF site is for the RC parish, so probably shows all four parents of the bride and groom, while the civil registration will show only the fathers, though it gives their occupation, which is nice to have. Diane

    2. Meg Greenwood
    3. I too would recommend downloading the IFHF Registration/s hoping you get lucky on the first downloaded image. However, if you wish to order the film.... the LDS pilot site for Civil Registration Indexes shows a Bridget MURRY marrying in Tuam, 1869, volume 4 page 607. It also shows a matching Edward BURKE marrying Tuam, volume 4 page 607. Its a pretty good indication its your couple...but there can be more than 1 marriage listed on a page, it just might be they ARE on that page...but wed to different people. Not likely but its possible.... That Marriage will be on film 101541 [1869 marriages, volume 4] seen as the handwritten original [same as you'd get from Roscommon or a Tuam Register office] with the names of the fathers of both bride and groom with the place of the ceremony. That film is orderable from a Family History Center. Make sure to take this number if you order, some volunteers do not know of these films' existence. When the film comes in [about 2 weeks] look for this marriage on page 607. Cost of one film in the US is $5.50 for a 5-6 week rental. Meg Greenwood / Oklahoma USA ==========================

    1. Re: [IRL-GALWAY] Marriage of Edward BURKE to Bridget MURRY about 1867-8
    2. The Irish Family History Foundation site shows marriages for Bridget Murray and Edward Burke in Dunmore RC parish in 1869. Presumably this was to each other, but you can't tell for sure without viewing the transcript of one of the two records, which costs 5 euros. Unfortunately, the LDS film doesn't include the years 1861-76, so to see a photocopy of the actual record, you'd have to pay the Galway West Heritage Center or a researcher on the list provided by the National Library of Ireland, both of which have the missing years. If I were you, I'd get the information from the IFHF. If it doesn't include the parents of Edward and Bridget, you could then write the parish directly, since you'd have the exact date, and ask for a lookup. Diane
