--Hello to the list members, The above Robert Farrell ATKINSON , born c1810-1815, was said to be married to Catherine CAIN in Ireland OR England c1835-39. I havent found a match in English records and hope someone may be connected OR know how to search for them in Ireland. The family was most likely Catholic and had only 1 son [that we know about] named John ATKINSON b.abt Sept 1839. This JOHN ATKINSON migrated to Australia as a youngster [date unk] & died 1878 in Melbourne Australia. Any thoughts / suggestions welcomed . Yvonne in Australia
Hi yvonne, Have you got Johns death and marriage certificates? That should give his birthplace - at least County and if you're lucky a town. His birthplace will also be shown on his childrens birth certificates. I found on my grandmothers Victorian birth certificate that her mother was born "in Clontarf, a village just outside Dublin". His death certificate will also show how long in the colony, which I have found to be very accurate and ages at death to be wrong in most cases. If he was from England then censuses should help.
