    3. Today is Father's Day in Ireland. Seeing the Father's Day wishes, made me think it would be nice to remember the father, grandfather, great-grandfather or GGgrandfather who left Ireland. Maybe his name and something you know about him. Happy Father's Day! Christina ===============================

    3. I have a great great grandfather, Thomas Mitchell, born around 1819 in Bovevagh, Co Derry. He was the son of Thomas Mitchell and Agnes nee McCluskey. He left Northern Ireland for Wishaw Scotland sometime before 1847 when he married Isabella Bryson McFarlane, in Cambusnethan Lanarkshire. Thomas was a master shoe maker with a business in Main Street Wishaw. (He had a young brother named David who was a journeyman tailor, who died in Wishaw aged 32 years.) I've never been able to track this family back to Londonderry.
