    3. Joyce, This is what I think too. Anytime I have checked on an apparent dispensation it has turned out that the marriage had a dispensation because the Banns were not called 3x due to a church holiday looming. No marriages took place at certain times like Lent?. I would check the date and check the Church season for the date falls into. I gather 3 Banns were sometime dispensed with due to pregnancy as well. Chris Joyce wrote: > Christina, great idea making the snippet available for all to see. As with > others. 3. sometimes the requirement for three banns was dispensed with due to the bridegroom going off to war, the couple emigrating, etc. On Thu, 21 Jun 2012 07:53:08 -0400, Christina Hunt <chrisnina@gmail.com> wrote: > Joyce, > This is what I think too. 3. Hi Joyce/Chris What an interesting observation! Someone else suggested it could be that the couple were 2nd cousins, but I have seen "tres disp" in lots of other marriages too, so am now inclined to think that it DOES mean that the banns were called 3 times. I will do as you suggest, and check the date of the marriage. Thanks very much for your help.
