    2. Hello Judith and Michelle, My third great grandfather, Samuel Rawlins, was a "watch finisher" who apparently spent some time in Ireland. We have gleaned this information from family lore and references from records here in the States from son Samuel, who appears to have left Ireland for the US in 1867. Should any of you with ties to jewelers come across a Rawlins in your path, I would love to know about it. This branch of my family has also been hard to track. I do believe we had one sighting of Samuel jr. working in a pawn shop in Belfast in 1858. His name was mentioned in an article from the British Newspaper Archive. Of course, I could find no trace of family that I could recognize in the area!! One thing I know for sure is that jewelers and pawnshop owners often had considerable contact.
