    3. Hello there. I have a new mystery. I found, on 'New York Passenger Lists, 1820-1957' in Ancestry, a record of my father's cousin Stella DOWSE, in 1947, going to Jerusalem from the US. On the 'Marine Carp' an American government ship at the time. Definitely her, as the address and next of kin (Florence Dowse, nee Andrews) is just visible on the original. She was born in 1908 and lived at 5, Ardbrugh Villas, Dalkey, Dublin, all her life, dying only in 2008 at nearly 100. We have some vague family stories of her hush WWII work, but then a lot of things were 'hush' at the time - but what was this trip about? I know very little about her life or work, she's down as a governess on this record, but this seems a bit unlikely to both me and my sister. - any ideas, anyone? - Alison Looking for LITTLE, ANDREWS, MEMERY, BIRMINGHAM/BERMINGHAM in Dublin - esp. John ANDREWS b about 1820, pawnbroker.
