I am seeking information about my maternal great-great grandparents, James and Mary DUDLEY. They died sometime prior to 1852. They had at least three children: James (my great-grandfather) was born about 1830. He married Maria Knight, the daughter of Patrick and Mary Knight. Maria was born in County Mayo about 1826. James and Maria had six children born in Cincinnati, Ohio between 1855 and 1862. James died May 4, 1875 at the age of 45. Maria died in March 1874. Both are buried in St. Joseph Irish Cemetery in Cincinnati as are all of their children and those of James’ brother Henry. Henry was born about 1834. The two boys were orphaned when Henry was a young child. Henry and his brother James emigrated from Dublin to the United States and arrived in Cincinnati, Ohio around 1852. The boys had learned the shoemaking trade in Ireland and continued in that profession in America. Henry married Hannah Morgan who was born June 10, 1842 in Cork. She was the daughter of Richard and Mary (Dower) Morgan. Hannah was orphaned at the age of eight. Two years later she immigrated to Cincinnati with an uncle to join a sister and two brothers who were already in Cincinnati. Henry and Hannah married in May 1865. They had eleven children. A daughter married Thomas McGuire. I have no information about the daughter’s name. She and Thomas had two daughters: Kate and Mary Ann. The daughter had died by 1899 when Henry Dudley’s will established a trust for Thomas and the girls. I would appreciate any information about these families as well as suggestions where I might get more information if I were to visit Dublin.
