Google 'The Darley Family+distillery on Ardee street'. I think it changed hands at one time as I knew it as Watkins distillery. They have a cul-de-sac of small cottages in Ardee st, called Watkins cottages by some+Darleys by others. Now if you google' Springfield golf' + then click on images at the top of your screen, you'll get photos. I'm not a golf buff, I'm unsure if this relates to Springfield in Tallaght? ( near the mountains). There's a housing estate there. If you google 'houses for sale in Dublin' , then. Put Springfield into the search box, you'll get photos too. As I understand it, George Darley the poet?s home was called Springfield. In 1815 George?s sister, Mary Louisa Darley, married Charles Burton Newenham ?in Dublin?. In 1837 Mary and George and their family together with their housekeeper, Mary Ann Holden and her two children, Jane and James, set sail for South Australia. They arrived in December 1837 less than twelve months after the first settlers had arrived. They lived in tents until Charles had built a house on leased land in the embryonic city. In 1842 Charles purchased land a few km from the city and built a home which was called Springfield House. I believe that Springfield in Dublin is now part of the Kilternan Golf and Country Club which has experienced some problems. My two requests are: 1. Does anyone know any more about Springfield? 2. Is is possible to obtain a photograph of all, or part, of the original Springfield? Thanking you for your patience. Dear Margaret, Thank you so much for your reply. I am, however, having a problem. I have tried googling both of your suggestions but end up in all sorts of weird places - could you possibly send me the web addresses of the two places - golf club and estate agent - that you referred to? Many thanks again. Regards, Michael
