    3. With a name as widespread as Thomas Moore, you indeed have a problem. Have you a death certificate? If so you are likely to have his age in years to give a bead on his birth year. With the death date and location you can check local newspapers at the time to find an obituary that may give you clues as to his birthplace. Then its likely he married at 21+, which give you an approximate birth date. Given that go to LDS birth registers for the likely years and quarters and list all the Thomas Moore births. The most likely would be those in the environs of Dublin. The question is then, would it be worthwhile to visit Dublin and check the actual birth registrations as you at least you are a son of John Moore (also hardly rare). The 1911 census should be online within a year so you might get further clues, and others in his family.
