Leinster Road and Leinster Square are an interest of mine. They are both definitely in Rathmines. Our ancestor Peggy McCullen was living at 5 Leinster Square at the time of her marriage to George Kavanagh in 1932. He had been reared in 60 Leinster Road from 1917. Earlier, in the 1870's, a possible Raymond ancestor of ours was living at 125 Leinster Road. The houses of this area were terraced for the most part, three or four storeys high, large and quite grand. Rathmines was therefore considered to be a fairly salubrious place to live. Here's another possible approach to finding out more about the address you're interested in. I was able to carry out some productive research at the Valuation Office, Block 2, Irish Life Centre, Lr. Abbey St. Dublin (Phone ++ 353 1 817 1000) some time ago. I found the names of the owners of all the properties I was interested in, and what dates they lived there. My research was most fruitful. The only problem is that it has to be done in person. >From that office, the Valuation Lists 1873 - 1887 Vol 1, said that this area is in the Parish of St. Peter's and the Townland is Rathmines. Hope that helps you somewhat. Debby Raymond, Queensland, Australia.
