    3. I know some people dont want to be on FB but you can join and add no friends so you can join a Facebook Genealogy group. There is a group for Co. Dublin. The group is private. If you want to check it out go to https://www.facebook.com/groups/dublingenealogy/ Click to join and Answer Questions so we know you are a real person. If you don't want to join ignore the email. I am trying to offer an alternative to Ancestry Boards. Chris

    3. Another email list platform They are much the same as Rootsweb lists under Mailman only a lot better IMHO https://groups.io/groups You would need to register (email address and create a password) Then log in and search for a group, of which there are quite a few Ex-Rootsweb already ie List admins of a Rootsweb list have started an io list for the same list name It works much the same as our present lists but with more options for both admins and users Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) On 09/01/2020 21:49, Michelle Wilson wrote: > What are io groups? > > Michelle

    3. Nivard, Thank you for sharing this information. It does look promising if I, or someone in a couple of lists I manage, want to start a new group there. I tried a quick search with no luck in finding any existing groups on Ireland genealogy, but I will keep looking. If you have any suggestions of existing groups, please let us know. 3. Hi John As far as I can see there are still no io lists for Ireland as yet I have suggested (as have others) that the word Rootsweb be added to the new lists description, so anyone searching for a list migrated from Rootsweb will be more able to find it The number of ex Rootsweb lists is growing on io groups Unfortunately some have decided to go to googlegroups and others to facebook, both well known data miners Some may not bother doing anything and just let it lapse completely, I don't think some lists have had an admin for some time Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) On 10/01/2020 03:50, John Warther wrote: > Nivard, > > Thank you for sharing this information. 3. Nivard, Thank you for the referral to https://groups.io/groups (and MIchelle, that is where you can join) I joined and did a very poor job searching last night. Your clue this morning sent me back, and I searched for "rootsweb," and three pages of groups came up that are migrating over by March 2. This is very exciting! I think I will join a group and check it out more thoroughly and see if this is what my Obit-List might want to use. We've had a lot of activity this past year and will want to continue with something. This looks like a very good substitute. Thank you for everyone who has given information about this new resource.
