    3. Alison I may have found something for you. First of all go to the 1901 Census at - http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Dublin/Merchants_Quay/South_Circular_Road__Dolphins_Barn_/1300281/ where you will find Anne Andrews (Widow - Pawnbroker) with sons with surname HECKETT, which I believe was HACKETT, also a son JOHN ANDREWS. This would indicate that Anne was previously married and I went on to find the registration of a marriage for ANNE HACKETT, in 1880 at Dublin North, 2nd quarter, Vol.2 Page 433. Also found that a JOHN JOSEPH ANDREWS is registered with the same details, which looks as if this is her marriage. It also looks as if JOHN ANDREWS died prior to 1901 Census. Also if you get a copy of the registration of one of the HACKETT sons, you will get Anne's former surname and perhaps go on to find her first marriage. Also if you could find a street directory for Birmingham for about the time of Anne's death you might find her brother's name. I hope this turns out to be your family. Joyce > Hello all. 3. Hello all. I'm still looking for Annie Andrews: Weekly Irish Times, Dublin, 05 Apr 1924 DEATHS. "ANDREWS - March 21, 1924, at her brother's residence, 12 Johnstone st., Ladywood, Birmingham, Annie Andrews, wife of John Andrews, Pawnbroker, of 4 Ardee st., also 20 St. Margaret's tce., South Circular rd., Dublin. Deeply mourned by her sisters and brothers. R.I.P." Have been trying to find the death record: on West Midlands BMD, findmypast and Ancestry, and the only one possible is: Annie Andrews Birth Date: abt 1875 Date of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar 1924 Age at Death: 49 (I felt the birth date was wrong anyway.) Registration district: Birmingham Inferred County: Warwickshire BUT - she had two children Anne Mary (1882) and Henrietta (1883) - at Ardee St - so can't possibly have been 49 in 1924......however if she took 10 years off her age.....but no marriage found in Dublin. Looking at the Birmingham connection...: IF they married in Birmingham: John Thomas Andrews Apr-May-Jun 1882 Birmingham Warwickshire - married Annie Lennon Apr-May-Jun 1882 Birmingham Warwickshire ...or just possibly Mary Ann Husey Apr-May-Jun 1882 Birmingham Warwickshire (same page, but Mary Ann is a less likely name) (Only 2 possibles of 4 in Birmingham 1878 - 1883.) AND there was an Annie Lennon born Rathcoole in 1865............... (And to be fair, possible Mary Ann Huseys in 1867 and 1868...a little too late) Considering that she probably had one child born before marriage, to marry at her brother's, not in Ireland, seems likely...both women were Roman Catholic. Is this too farfetched? Comments please. - meanwhile I shall look for her brother. - Alison Moyra.

    1. [DUBLIN-CITY] sarah mahon?
    2. gwjones
    3. I have a real problem and it has completely stumped me. I know that my GG Grandmother was Sarah Mahon who married William Burley in Hobart, Tasmania in 1844. Both were transported as convicts, thus I have been able to access copies of a number of their records and newspaper entries. Accordingly, I know that Sarah came from Kildare, born approximately 1812. She was sentenced to seven years transportation in 1840. This information from her convict details and record. I did, however, at first miss something on her convict record of considerable significance. Sarah was listed as a widow, thus presenting a huge stumbling block. What was her maiden name, who did she marry, where did her husband die and where was he buried? I'd dearly love to know the answers to these questions and would be grateful for any assistance. GJ

    3. You do have a problem. I searched the index for a marriage of a Sarah to a Mahon and got nothing. http://www.rootsireland.ie/ I think you are right to scour local records. Especially church records if you can track them down. Maiden names are often used there. I have a church record using a maiden name for a widow in my family tree. 3. Hello Christina. Trouble is, if Anne, wife of John, was 84 in 1924, this Anne is the wrong age.....She should be 60 or so, and the only one that age in that census I know is John's sister-in-law. I am not at all sure who this Anne is, but she may be some relation - there is however at least one whole other set of Andrewses in Dublin and I haven't sorted out relationships, although some of mine were at a funeral of one of the others! Sorry...............Alison ------------------------------ > > Alison, > I found one possible for the 1901 Census: Some sons have a different last > name > - so was she married twice? > > Residents of a house 127 in South Circular Road (Dolphins Barn) (Merchants > Quay, Dublin) > Surname Forename Age Sex Relation to head Religion Birthplace Occupation > Literacy Irish Language Marital Status Specified Illnesses > > ANDREWS Anne 46 Female Mother Roman Catholic Dublin City Pawn Broker Read > and > write English Widow - > > COOPER Bridget 50 Female Servant Roman Catholic Co Carlow Domestic Servant > Cook Read and write English Widow - > > HECKETT Robert 26 Male Son Roman Catholic Dublin City Pawn Broker Read and > write English Not Married - > > HECKETT William 24 Male Son Roman Catholic Dublin City Pawn Broker Read > and > write English Not Married - > > ANDREW John 20 Male Son Roman Catholic Dublin City Pawn Broker Read and > write English Not Married > http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/reels/nai003716565/ > > In 1911 Her name was used to sign the census form even though she is not > listed > in the household: > http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/reels/nai000195008/ > > Regarding the maiden name, since she died at the brother's residence, have > you > tried to find her death certificate in England? 3. I did check the Registration index for deaths in England. There were two. One was more like 74. I did check the street names for these censuses and the street names match the obit. BTW, on the advanced form you can put in a street name or occupation. Can be helpful.
