Today is Father's Day in Ireland. Seeing the Father's Day wishes, made me think it would be nice to remember the father, grandfather, great-grandfather or GGgrandfather who left Ireland. Maybe his name and something you know about him. Happy Father's Day! Christina ===============================
Shelagh I should manage to call at Deansgrange during the week ahead. I have noted his date of death from your first note to the List - I need that in order to ask if buried at Deansgrange. In the meantime keep your fingers crossed!! Joyce Joyce. That would be great - thank you. I had looked at Glasnevin but couldn't find anything. He was a Catholic and the story I have is that he went back to Ireland and worked as a Gardener for a convent in Dublin. I found a Patrick's death that fitted his age and received the cert today. It gives his occupation as Gardener and he was Gate Lodge Srs. Charity Donnybrook. He was born in Ferns Wexford 1874 went to Dublin and then joined the Welsh Constabulary in 1896(one of 5 brothers doing so)married in 1908 retired from the Police in October 1922 then as my first line. I've found all the other 4 deaths - 1 in Dublin Edward in 1954 and in Glasnevin Cemetery so would like to find Patrick. Thanks again. Shelagh.
Christina. Many thanks for your reply - but not my family. Please see my reply to Joyce for details. Thanks again Shelagh. ________________________________ From: Christina Hunt <chrisnina@gmail.com> To: irl-dublin-city@rootsweb.com Sent: Saturday, 16 June 2012, 16:40 Subject: Re: [DUBLIN-CITY] Patrick Clinch Not quite what you asked, but I found a birth: Name: Patrick Clinch Gender: Male Birth Date: 19 Aug 1875 Birth Place: Rathfarnham, Dub, Ireland Baptism Place: Rathfarnham, Dub, Ireland Father's Name: John Clinch Mother's name: Mary Russell Do you know the names of any children? Thank you for this information Christine - kind of you and very useful as I have only recently started to do research in Ireland. I request a photocopy. It is the cheapest way to get a cert. If you have the reference it will help them find what you want. You can send them a credit card number. I am ordering today and my husband got a "shop safe" number to use from our credit card company. A lot of banks do this now for safer online shopping. We put enough to cover the Euros with a little extra in case of change. They don't take checks unless drawn on an Irish bank. Just put in Euro exchange rate into a Google search. There are a lot of sites where you can get a conversion done. It was abt 1.25 Euros to a dollar yesterday. Nivard, I found a death date for a former Englishman who had emigrated to America in the early 1900's. He left a small bequest to a sister still in England. I hadn't found his death date in U.S. records up until this came up. I was quite surprised to find it. Thanks for mentioning looking for Ireland in the Wills for England. Definitely worth checking out.
