Please know I certainly was not asking for anyone to do me a favour. I would love nothing better than to hop on a plane to Dublin, however that is not possible. I was simply asking if anyone knew if the Dublin Library provides a research service [for a fee obviously] or if anyone knew of a local person who would do lookup [again presumably for a fee]. Not sure what was vague about that... Hi all! I also found some records I'd like to know more about:-) Does anyone know if they offer a research service or if anyone locally is available to do lookups with proper references provided? How do you know the records are at the Dublin City Library, for instance? What are the records you wish to research? That's what I meant by vague. A reference at the Dublin City Library could lead to the National Library or the National Archives or who knows where else. It's a real round robin. You're better off doing it yourself. Vague questions lead to misunderstandings. A plane ticket costs $179 right now. The Dublin City Library Archives are online for most parishes outside the city limits. I found several of mine in that parish by doing lookups on the computer from home and while I was there. http://dublinheritage.ie/ -- Using Opera's revolutionary e-mail client: http://www.opera.com/mail/
I'm looking for information on the PETER DUFF family from Lisdoonvarna, Co Clare in 1892. His wife's name was Anne maiden name unknown. He had at least 1 son whose name was JAMES DUFF who was married in 1892 to Susan Downs of Sandyford, Co. Dublin in Dublin at the Catholic Church of St Michael & John. A daughter Susan Ann Duff was born to James Duff & Susan Downs in 1893. Susan Downs Duff died from complications of child birth 1893 in Manchester, England. Her parents were John & Susan (maiden name probably Ryan) Downs. I am looking for all other relatives of the above named. I have very little information about the Duff's. I believe PETER DUFF had at least 1 daughter named Rebecca possibly born in Belfast, Ireland. Rebecca married a man named Thomas Carter in Manchester, England. An Ann Duff married a man last name Nelson early 1900's probably in Dublin and I believe are related in some way Lynette Giles Tubb California USA .

Hi, I'm looking for any information about my granddad Francis William CARROLL. He was born at Linen Hall Place, Dublin on 27 September 1904. The family moved to Oliver Bond House on Bridgefoot Street. Francis married Mary Margaret REDDY and they had three children. I believe Francis had an older brother called Patrick and two sisters, one of which was called Nellie - she went on to marry a man called Birch (?) and they ran a fish and chip shop in Ripon, UK. Francis' other sister may have married someone called Dalton, because my dad remembers cousins called Dalton. The father of Francis William CARROLL had the nickname Dancer. If anyone can help with any of this I would be extremely grateful. Jennifer

Does a city directory for the 1860's or 1870's exist? And if anyone has a copy would they please do a look-up? All I know about him is that he was a teacher, wife's name was Catherine BODEN/BODIN/BOLAND and he was still alive in about 1910. Thanks! Hi List, could/would it be possible for sks to check out an address for me next time they are at the Archive centre please? The address is 37 York Street in Dublin. I am hoping to find there a family of O'KELLYs of KELLYs, Nicholas J father, Norah mother and at least daughter Elizabeth Mary approx 11 and maybe a son Nicholas approx 10, ages unknown for the parents and unsure of religion, but suppose Catholic. Kindest regards, Michael McAllister
Hi List, could/would it be possible for sks to check out an address for me next time they are at the Archive centre please? The address is 55 or 60 Elmfield Street in Belfast Urban District 10, I think it is Clifton Ward. I am hoping to find there a family of McALLISTERs, Thomas father, Jane mother and at least baby Thomas approx 1-1½, ages unknown for the parents and unsure of religion, but suppose Catholic. Kindest regards, Michael McAllister
I'm seeking information on a Cunningham family of Dublin, Ireland. The father's name was Patrick or Patrice, and the mother's name was Catherine Smith (nee). They had a daughter named Margaret (Maggie) who was born in 1848 who married a Henry Loveridge of Michigan and lived in Muskegon, Michigan after coming to the United States on a boat called the Tarifa in 1866, with her sisters Catherine and either Margaret or Maggie (10 years older), and possibly a brother named Thomas. Catherine Cunningham (the daughter of Patrick and Catherine Smith Cunningham) also moved to Michigan and married a fellow named Hughes and later a Michael Holan, I believe. Does anyone have any additional information on this family? All tips will be appreciated. Thanks so much! Simone Smith [email protected] --------------------------------- New Yahoo! Hi List, after a 'chat' with my father-in-law concerning my research, it dawned on me that I had an address around 1901 of my O'KELLY/KELLY grandmother's family. She was born in 1890 in 76, Upper Dominic Street, Dublin, her brother was born a year later in the same street but number 77. Would it be possible for sks to check out this address for me please? Would you also think that they may still be around this area ten or eleven years later? Gran's name was Elizabeth Mary, so would be around 11 years old, her brother Nicholas James would be around 10, I would presume there may be older and younger children around too, mother would be Norah and father would also be Nicholas J(ames?). Both were of 'full age' when they married in August? 1884 in St Nicholas's RC Chapel, looks like number 2 district. Would someone please be able to tell me where around Dublin this would be? With kindest regards, Michael McAllister
Hi Debbie, many thanks for your information. The reference I have relates to a Catholic Church, so hopefully...... The RCB is the Representative Church Body. They hold records for Church of Ireland churches; that is, for the Protestant religion. St. Andrew's in Westmoreland Street is Catholic so the RCB would not hold any records for St. Andrew's. Debby Raymond Queensland, Australia
G'Day fellow listers I am interested in making contact with anyone researching DALTON and it's spelling variations who were living around the Dublin area in circa 1800. Cheers Gerry Dalton - Brisbane, Qld.
