    2. Thanks for that. My nearest LDS is a 40 mile trip, only open on a Thursday morning and I work. I was hoping some kind soul would have access to this imformation. I am intending to go there over the Easter holidays. This information has to be ordered on arrival and could take a few more weeks which would then mean another day off work, but like most people I am impatient when it comes to finding out about myself. 1. [IRL-DUBLIN-CITY] Shankill Castle?/ Dublin/ McDonald query
    2. Lynn Scott
    3. Hello, Everyone--I've been trying to post a query and think I must be sending it to the wrong address. I am interested in knowing about a location mentioned in a family letter. The letter is from Mary A. McDonald and is dated in August, 1875 or 76--it's difficult to read her writing. It is written to an ancestor of mine, Mary Tilleray of Aberdeen, Scotland, who was by that time living in New York, USA. It speaks of the death of "poor Isa" who was, I think, Mary Tilleray's daughter. The letter speaks of taking Isa to "an hospital in Dublin," so I assume they were in Ireland, but I don't know why. I don't know what Isabella Tilleray's connection might have been to Mary McDonald. The date also appears to say Shankill Castle. This, too, was difficult for me to interpret. I am assuming that since a sick patient was taken to Dublin, this must be a Shankill near Dublin. I have seen that an area south of the city has that name. I don't know why it would also say "castle," but that is the way it appears to me. I'd appreciate any information from anyone who has familiarity with the area, what the Shankill Castle reference could mean, or if the name Mary A. Mc Donald or even Tilleray means anything to anyone with a Dublin connection. Thanks very much, Lynn in Fla. -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Free Edition. 2. IrishRecordFinder
    3. I'm using an 1897 Dublin directory which shows that No.12 was in the CIVIL parish of St Mary and which places No.12 almost at the junction with Stafford St now called Wolfe Tone St. The Anglican church located right beside them would have been St Marys, still there but now a bar/restaurant or something. If Catholic, then the nearest chapel would be St Michans, on Halston St. Proximity is no guarantee as to where they might have worshipped so be cautious. Adriana: If you are asking about RC parishes, I know for sure that the Trinity Street address would belong to St. Andrew's RC Parish on Westland Row, and that the parish registers for this church going back to the late 1700's can be seen on microfilm at the archives. Also, if the people you are looking for were still at that address in 1851, the head of household would likely be included in the "1851 census fragments" held at the archive. These are indexed by street name, and I know that Trinity Street was included. As for the North Great Georges address, I believe this would also be covered by the same RC parish, but not 100% certain. Bear in mind that these addresses were also in the Civic Parish of St. Andrew's, and it is just coincidental that the RC Parish in that neighborhood was also known as St. Andrew's.
