I am desperate to trace my grandfathers birth. He married Anne Loughrey on 28 September 1913 at St Lawrence O'Toole Church. On the marriage certificate he is at the time living at 5 Greaves Cottages, Newfoundland Street Dublin and his occupation is noted as Sailor. His father is John Moore a labourer. I do not know if he was born in Dublin but I think most of his brothers and sisters married in Dublin. The Moore family are not on the 1911 census at this address. I have sent a message asking for help before and I thank everyone who replied with ideas and suggestions. Unfortunately I have been unable to get any further. Any new suggestions welcome! With a name as widespread as Thomas Moore, you indeed have a problem. Have you a death certificate? If so you are likely to have his age in years to give a bead on his birth year. With the death date and location you can check local newspapers at the time to find an obituary that may give you clues as to his birthplace. Then its likely he married at 21+, which give you an approximate birth date. Given that go to LDS birth registers for the likely years and quarters and list all the Thomas Moore births. The most likely would be those in the environs of Dublin. The question is then, would it be worthwhile to visit Dublin and check the actual birth registrations as you at least you are a son of John Moore (also hardly rare). The 1911 census should be online within a year so you might get further clues, and others in his family. Hi All, I have been thinking for some time now of using the Skype system to increase our contact on the Dublin list. For those who don't know Skype herewith a brief description:- It is basically what is called 'voice over I.P' or VOIP if you have an Internet connection, which all of us have, and broadband, which most of us have, the all we need is to download the Skype software and this makes it possible to talk (and even see, if we have a web cam) each other in real time. The obvious drawback is that we are a community with such time variation that getting everyone interested on line at a suitable time will be difficult, but I am confident that we can still do a lot. This is not a proposal to downgrade the list in any way - rather to make it more attractive by giving a personal touch. If anyone is interested in experimenting with this medium of communication get back to me either through the list or off list. Lets use technology to make the Dublin list a setter of trends not a follower! Regards Anthony J. They married in St Andrew's RC Church in 1839. I would be most grateful if you could look up the name McAllister in the 1877-1914 and see if by chance their names appear, if not then they would have died before 1877. Is there a source in Dublin that I might be able to obtain info on the birth of David BEATTY, born abt 1757 and the birth of his son, Frederick born about 1790. David married Olivia Marie BELL in St Anne Parish, Dublin in 1782. Thank you, Jenny in B.C. Canada.
As I have stated before I am more than happy to look these up and as you can all imagine I have received a huge number of requests BUT the replies are coming in in all sorts of ways: from different web sites, with different subject lines, in replies to others requests and some with a subject line not related to the subject and these are taking up my research time and are very hard to try to work out. I also have some that I have looked up but have not had a reply as yet so I am unaware as to whether the messages have been received. SO to all those that have not had a reply and to those who would still like a lookup could you please: ** submit and/or re-submit to me personally at [email protected] ** with " Mt Jerome Cemetery lookup " in the subject line. This will then allow me to reply to you in person and I will also send a general reply to all the lists. I will look up the ones with a time frame first and all those that request a general search I will keep these until I have more than one request for a specific letter eg " Elizabeth M'. I was going tomorrow BUT I will now leave it until Monday and see who replies to this e-mail. Regards Valerie B Garton [ Mrs ]in sunny Sydney A/Dip LAH & Dip FHS. Researcher in Genealogy

Thankyou Debby but in your reply there is no content of the former mail so it is only that it was just a few minutes ago that I remembered what you were talking about. As I receive some 150-180 messages a day it is very hard to know what people are talking about if the reply does not a contain a copy of the previous message. I hope this makes sense ?
