    3. Edd, I have a reply to you in my Sent email which I will insert: *The best clue I can give you is that searches come up by date added so the most recent additions would come in at the top of the search results page. I have also just added a search page with three different ways to search...the whole site, the counties -minus the headstones, and the Headstones by County. Chris Edd, If you use the search engine on our main archives page you can drop the box down to search for just one county. In this case Dublin. I put the name Sinnott in and then put .txt So, I should get text files that have Sinnott on them. The result I got was: http://www.igp-web.com/IGPArchives/ire/dublin/photos/tombstones/1headstones... Jesus have mercy | also my dear brother | WILLIAM SINNOTT | who www.igp-web.com/IGPArchives/ire/dublin/photos/tombstones/1headstones/glas... So, try using the search engine on the main page. Keep in mind that it is updated once a day, so if I announce something brand new, the search engine may not have it yet. In that case I do a quick search of the text file using my browsers Search function, Ctrl-F. I do this myself when I add something new in the headstones in Dublin. Let me know how that works for you. 3. Hi Christina: About a month ago I e-mailed you to inquire of the possibility of searching the IGP Archives by surname for just the "NEW" entries as indicated below, that way we do not have to wade through all of the existing input to find out " What's New ". I do not recall get a response from you. Edd Sinnett in Florida Researching Sinnott,Synnott from Wexford,Wicklow,in Ireland, to New Brunswick,Canada. 3. Not to be a Pollyanna, but my guess is that with the outpouring of unhappiness and people refusing to buy records, RootsIreland will back off this dumb move in time. They have to be somewhat responsive to public opinion to be in business. One of the list members on the Limerick list posted a very good set of instructions on how to get the most out of the search options on RootsIreland -- without paying. I thought this was very good. It is a more tedious method, but you can still get results. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~shanahan/ifhf_tutorial.html Regards, Christina

    3. Yes, I find it ironic that RootsIreland would charge for what is one of the worst search engines. Unless you know what you're looking for, you can't find it on that site. No wild cards! I don't plan to use it again either. On Mon, 09 Apr 2012 11:08:24 -0400, Sharon Oddie Brown <sharonoddiebrown@gmail.com> wrote: > I totally agree with Grenham. 3. Hi Joyce Thanks very much for your reply, yes I've heard so many records were lost in the 1922 fire, but hopefully the churches retained their original records, that's what I'm hoping anyway. I will send an email to the R.C.B library and see if they can suggest anything. Thanks for your time Regards Dianna

    3. Hi Carlahs I'm sure they are Catholic but I'm happy to look at any records, I know Michael, Rosetta's brother (her in Sydney) was Catholic, but as for her I'm not certain, could have been COI. I will try and find the St. Peters site to see what I can find. Thanks so much for your reply. Kind regards Dianna

    3. Dianna This information isn't really going to help with your brick wall, but best to know. Bracknagh, Co.Offaly is close to Rathangan, and most likely the family would have attended the C of I Church there. However the early records appear to have been lost in 1922. The records at R.C.B.Library according to a list I have are - Baptisms 1880-2001 Marriages 1846-1949 Burials 1879-2003 If you email the R.C.B.Library at library@ireland.anglican.org and tell them you are looking for early records for Bracknagh, Co.Offaly, they would confirm my thoughts or perhaps come up with something more helpful. Good luck Joyce > > > Hi everyone > I'm still trying to find information on my GGAunt the above Rosetta > Byrne who married a Mr. Woodworth. > > Rosetta's other brother William was born in Co. 1. Re: [DUBLIN-CITY] Christopher Hamilton saddler to the Lord Lieutenent Dublin ...
    2. Brenda Thanks. I tried that last week but that part of their web site was down due to problems. I tried again 2 days ago and it was working. I got Susan Maquay Hamilton's death record but somehow the informant (her eldest daughter) didn't know her parent's names. But that's ok because I dug around a bit and found the death certificate for Henrietta Hamilton (who was clearly too old to be Susan's daughter) and it listed her mother as Anna Seymour. This is much more likely my ggg grandmother. So now I have Christopher's first wife's name (hopefully there wasn't another one in there before Susan). Matt In a message dated 4/6/2012 7:29:26 P.M. Eastern Daylight Time, brendapilson@yahoo.com.au writes: Hi, I suggest you get the death certificate of susan. In New South Wales & Victoria the death certificate will give her age at marriage, husbands name, childrens names & ages, parents names (if known by informant). Regards Brenda, Melbourne. Diana, Do you know what religion they were? My Dublin Byrnes were Church of Ireland (COI) and their parish church was St. Peter's on Angier Street. I don't have that much on them yet, but what I do have I found on the St. Peter's site. << They were living in Dublin City in 1827 according the will of Rosetta's brother Michael who died here in Sydney at that time. Rosetta's other brother William was born in Co. Bracknagh, Offaly in 1780 this I found from his Royal Marines records. I have searched the 1841/51 Census for England just in case they moved there found nothing. I cannot find anything on Rosetta's marriage (maybe in Bracknagh) death, cemetery records, emigration records. Can anyone suggest how I can find out anything on Rosetta and her husband at all please, I've really hit a brickwall. Kindest regards Dianna >>

    3. Flo Family Search has the Civil Registration Index but Rootsireland has extensive Church records. You are right that Rootsireland had Civil records too. 3. Hi, 1st of all, I would look at Mackey/Marques/Marqui variants. If he was working for the Lord Lieutenent, he would have had to travel with him to Wexford +abroad. At that time convicts were being shiped from Ireland so the Lord Lieutenent would have business out there. nationalarchives.ie have info on convicts from 1791 to 1853. While working, your man wouldn't have taken his children with him. Maggie

    1. [DUBLIN-CITY] Christopher Hamilton saddler to the Lord Lieutenent Dublin Ireland
    2. Dear List Any tips, hints or tricks would be appreciated. Feel free to poke holes in any of my assumptions. Christopher Hamilton lived in Dublin from at least 1824 to the early 1850's. This is my ggg grandfather. I am related to his daughter Charlotte Hamilton. Ok so this Christopher Hamilton left Dublin in the early 1850's and apparently went to the Wexford area of Ireland before leaving for Sydney Australia. Now he takes most of his family with him to Australia but not all. He apparently leaves behind several female children with a relative of his wife in Dublin (Mrs. Maquay could be his wife's mother) and with an in-law of his daughter (Carroll) also in Dublin and both are at the same address (8 Oriel Street Upper). This Carroll is a relative of Sparrow Carroll of Enniscorthy near Wexford. Does this sound normal for this time and place? Now there is another Christopher Hamilton that shows up in the Dublin Directories. He is a solicitor. My Christopher Hamilton's father was Christopher Hamilton but I don't know if it is this Christopher Hamilton. I have a brief index of his will but no one is mentioned in it. Any ideas on tracing him? I have gone through the _http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/_ (http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/) . Christopher Hamilton's marriage to Susan Maquay is not there. He may have married Roman Catholic as several of his children born in the 1840's were baptized Roman Catholic. I found a number of newspaper articles that mention him at _http://www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk/search_ (http://www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk/search) . I have tried to find as many Dublin Directories as I can their results are below. Was it normal to switch religions like that? His wife was Susan Maquay 1820 - 1908 died in Australia (death index) I don't have the death record. Is this is correct then obviously she's too young to be the mother of some of the children. Children Henrietta Hamilton 1828 –? Australia Charlotte Georganna Hamilton 1835 – 1898 married COI then to Canada Emily Hamilton abt.1840 –? married COI Dublin then ? Elizabeth Hamilton abt1852-? married in Dublin COI 1874 then? Wilhelmina Hamilton 1841 – 1920 baptized Roman Catholic then to Australia Susanna Hamilton 1841 –? baptized RC Lydia Hamilton 1842 – 1926 baptized RC then to Australia Mary Ann Hamilton 1846 – 1900 then to Australia George William Nathaniel Hamilton 1848 – 1931 married in Anglican Church Australia Catherine Maria Hamilton 1850 – 1930 Australia Samuel John Hamilton 1854 – 1931 Australia Christopher Hamilton Birth 19 April 1789 in Exeter, Devon, England Death 11 Jun 1858 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia _ Timeline 1789 19 Apr Birth_ (http://trees.ancestry.com/tree/10457980/person/363214573/fact/20124589386) _Exeter, Devon, England_ (http://places.ancestry.com/index.aspx?tid=10457980&pid=363214573&eid=20124589386) 1789 19 Apr _Baptism_ (http://trees.ancestry.com/tree/10457980/person/363214573/fact/20408186726) _St. Paul, Exeter, Devon, England_ (http://places.ancestry.com/index.aspx?tid=10457980&pid=363214573&eid=20408186726) Name: Christopher Hamilton Gender: Male Baptism/Christening Date: 19 Apr 1789 Baptism/Christening Place: SAINT PAUL,EXETER,DEVON,ENGLAND Birth Date: Birthplace: Death Date: Name Note: Race: Father: Christopher Hamilton Mother: Mary 1801 Age: 12 _Business_ (http://trees.ancestry.com/tree/10457980/person/363214573/fact/20116372777) _79 Castle Street Dublin_ (http://places.ancestry.com/index.aspx?tid=10457980&pid=363214573&eid=20116372777) Hamilton, Francis, Sadler, 79 Castle Street WIlson's Dublin Directory for 1801 http://www.igp-web.com/IGPArchives/ire/dublin/directories/dublin-dir1801h.txt listed as & son later then there is a John Hamilton on that street at a different address years later.
