Marion, If he applied for citizenship, there should be a record somewhere. Pre 1906 the records are not uniform. They may be in the local court. What was his name and where did he live in the U.S. Christina Marion wrote: > Hi Christina, > That's fantastic, my g.g. Hi Cara Thanks so is there a BRACKNAGH and a BRACKAGH, it's so confusing not getting anywhere with my Byrnes family. Regards Dianna
Perhaps you mean Brackagh without the N in it which is covered by the Barony of Carbury and Dunforth parish registers begin in 1821 but you need to ask on the Kildare list for more information of what parish registers cover this parish. Hi Can anyone tell me where I can enquire about baptisms in Bracknagh Kildare, I've tried Bracknagh Co. Offaly with no luck for my Byrnes 1780's Thanks Dianna
I have a favour to ask. I am looking for the death (or burial) of Henry Butler, printer, solicitor (as in sales person) of Dublin. From 1855 to his wife's death in 1866, the family resided at 20 Donnybrook Rd, Donnybrook. Before 1851, the family lived in Dublin proper. His children were baptized at St Peter's C of I. I have been unable to find when he died between 1856 (when my great grandmother was born) and 1866, when his wife's (Sarah) death is registered in the Irish civel records. Henry and Sarah were married in the 1830's, though I haven't located the record. I have not been able to locate the baptism of my great grandmother and I searched the C of I records at their archives. Part of my problem is not knowing the church, the family might have attended in 1856 in Donnybrook. Griffins valuation have been consulted, as have the church records available on iep?. I have found Eva's (my great grandmother) sister's (Ellen) baptism, and another Eva, and several brothers in Dublin. Ellen emigrated to Canada in the 1860's, marrying a Canadian born printer in Toronto. Eva came in 1879, met and married Will Millman. Romantically Will may have traveled on the same ship as brought Eva to Canada. I am stymied. Henry is my brick wall. There are a couple of other "Henry Butler's" in Dublin during this time, but I am confident that Henry the printer is my ancestor. I would love to determine when he died. He does not appear in the death civil registrations. This is my brick wall. Wendy in Toronto.
Hi all, Some info on this Finglas Asylum can be found online at finglashistoricalsociety.com. I got this from 'Dublin down memory lane' from Laurence Duffy. Maggie

How can I get some of these marriage records that are listed here on ancestry.com? ... Dublin, Ireland, Probate Record and Marriage Licence Index, 1270-1858 I know _http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie_ (http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie) has many but not all of them. For instance there is a marriage license listed in the above index to Christopher Hamilton marrying a Joanna Feake in 1813 in Dublin. The record is not on _http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie_ (http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie) Source Information Ancestry.com. Dublin, Ireland, Probate Record and Marriage Licence Index, 1270-1858 [database on-line]. Provo, UT, USA: Ancestry.com Operations, Inc., 2011. Original data: Reports of the Deputy Keeper of the Public Records and Keeper of the State Papers in Ireland. Dublin, Ireland: Alexander Thom & Co. (Limited), 1895–1899. About Dublin, Ireland, Probate Record and Marriage Licence Index, 1270-1858 This database contains details extracted primarily from Irish probate records. Historical Background The vast majority of records in this database are index entries extracted from wills, letters of administration, acts of probate, marriage licenses, and other records within the Diocese of Dublin. These indexes were included as appendices to two volumes (the 26th and the 30th) of the Reports of the Deputy Keeper of the Public Records and Keeper of the State Papers in Ireland. These appendices were titled Index to the Act or Grant Books, and to Original Wills, of the Diocese of Dublin to the year 1800. An Index to the Act or Grant Books and Original Wills of the Diocese of Dublin from 1800 to 1858. A note accompanying the second explains that “the following Index is a continuation of that published as an Appendix to the Twenty-sixth Report of the Deputy Keeper, which extended to the end of the year 1799. The present one reaches to the 9th January, 1858, after which date the testamentary jurisdiction of the Consistorial Court of the Diocese was transferred to the Court of Probate.” What You Can Find in the Records Most of the entries list a name, place, occupation, year, record type, and a page number for the original volume. The records use the following abbreviations for sources: * I. Intestacy * M.L. Marriage Licence * M.L.A. Marriage Licence Affidavit * M.L.B. Marriage Licence Bond * O.W. Original Will (unentered in Will and Grant Books) * W. Will, Probate, or Grant connected with Will
Edd, I looked at Juno. Apparently their deal is 10 hours of free internet service & mail WITH advertising. I don't know if Carolyn can get a free account with another email provider?? The rule of thumb I use on the list is - whatever comes after the Signature line is not my problem *provided* that there is no porn or political stuff. So, best to ignore it. Also just an FYI - I prefer questions like this to be sent off list, either to me or the list member. I can then check it out off list. Carolyn The registers you require in order to search for Anne's baptism appear to be at the National Library in Dublin on film. I was looking at the list of registers and spotted this note:- List of the entries of baptisms from the district of Bray, Little Bray, Shankill, Old Connaught and Shanganagh found in the registers of St. Michael's Church, Dun Laoghaire (formerly Kingstown) 1768-1861. This might be a start as Anne most likely lived in the parish in which she was married, and hopefully born there too. Someone on the list may be able to help and take a look for you. Joyce
Hi List, Anne HAYDEN was married to John LAWLESS 05 Apr 1875 at Little Bray RC Chapel, Rathmichail, Rathdown, Dublin, IRL by Joseph A Burke, Vicar. Would the actual Parish Record for this event mention the names of the mothers for these two persons? Would it be possible to obtain a copy of the actual Record? Is this Chapel still in existence? If so, what is its address? If not, what organization would be the caretaker for the Parish Records? Any help appreciated. Hi Edd, About that time ago I responded to this question from someone. What I do is get to the page where the new photos are. In the left hand column are the text pages for the corresponding photos. I click on the text page, then hit Control + F which brings up a search box on my browser. Type in the name you are searching for and it will let you know whether or not there are any of that name there. It's very easy and saves going through them all. Hope this helps Sandy in Sunny Queensland, who is very grateful for all the hard work the IGP people do for us.
