OWEN FAGAN, b. ~ 1790, Ireland (place not specified). He died 1856, Liverpool Married: married MARY O'BRIEN (perh) (as a Margaret O'Brien of right age to be mother/aunt was later living w/them in Liverpool. Mary was b. between 1794-1796, Ireland (place unknown) KNOWN CHILDREN: 1. Matthew Fagan, b. ~1820, Dublin (REF: English Census Records) 2. Catherine Fagan, b. 1829, Liverpool 3. Mary Fagan, b. 1831, Liverpool. May have died young. 4. Ann Fagan, b. 1835, Liverpool 1841, 1851, 1861, 1871, 1881, 1891, 1901 -- Family or descendants of family all living in Liverpool -- mainly Toxteth Park Area. Always seem to be associated with the CATHOLIC CHURCH. OWEN FAGAN was said to have been a HEDGEROW TEACHER, which may have caused the family to leave Dublin after the birth of Matthew and before 1829, when daughter rCatherine was b. in Liverpool. Son Matthew was a PAINTER -- said to have travelled extensively across England, Wales, for his work. QUESTION: 1. Were there lists of hedgerow teachers in the 1800-1820 time period? (Doubtful since it was rather secretive.) 2. Without knowing a parish, where might I look for the birth of Matthew to Owen Fagan in Dublin? I'd presume there were dozens of Catholic Churches at the time. 3. Were there city directories in the 1800-1825 time from where an Owen Fagan might be listed and if so, where might I find them. 4. Other suggestions as to where I might go for more info on either the FAGAN or the O'BRIEN Names? Thanks to the group for any suggestions you might have. Marilyn US
