Maureen, Thank you for your e-mail. I just haven't been able to get a lead on the parents, John Doyle and Catherine Dearing, of my grandfather, Lawrence William Doyle born in May 1840. All we have ever heard was Dublin. He came to the US with a brother in 1866 (according to US census). I can find no record of where he landed or on which ship he arrived. My grandfather and his brother, Joseph, were stone masons in the States. Joseph lived in Kansas and died there. My grandfather worked with the Santa Fe RR and moved around. Do you know of any records or how to get info from those other towns in the Co. of Dublin? Do you live in Ireland? I and some of my family went to Ireland several years ago. We went to a genealogist and he told us to try to trace them thru the Dearings, because it is a less common name. However; not knowing anything about Catherine nor her family, I have not had any luck. Thank you again for your info.
