Hi Listers I wonder if anyone can help me. My ancestor, Thomas McHENRY, is a real mystery-man. The first I know of him is that he married in Swan Hill New South Wales here in Australia, his first two children were born in Bendigo Victoria and his third in Beechworth - a Gold-mining town in Victoria. His marriage and death certs give the information that he was born in Dublin - County or City, I don't know - in approx 1820, his parents were William McHENRY and Mary KENNEDY and he spent his first seven years in Australia in New South Wales. Of course, that was a favourite sentence for transportation but I can't find him as a convict. I can't find how he arrived in Australia, and can trace no McHENRYs in any of Ireland. Does anyone have any ideas of how I should trace this family or make suggestions as to where to look. I have looked for this man for eight years and can't believe that a person can just appear out of the blue with no inkling of his origins. Any help would be much appreciated.
