Hello Carolyn, I presume you have a marriage certificate for James and Mary Jane showing his fathers name and occupation as there are 32 James Doyle's on the IGI born Co Dublin in the time frame you are looking at so you need some way of cutting it down, also I have found that if the family were RC you should try to get a copy of the actual parish record of the marriage as it often gives extra information about the people involved.
