Hi, I have been trying to find the death of my maternal grandmother for sometime now, so far I have been unable to find where she died and was buried. Her husband (my grandfather) was James Peter Keogh of Wicklow who was RQMS of the first Btn Royal Dublin Fusiliers. I believe that she might have died in India prior to the regiment returning to the UK in 1914 or Dublin as my mother and her sisters went to school somewhere in Dublin as teenagers. I have tried India for a death record without success so I am wondering if in fact she did die in Dublin and there might be a record of her death there. I feel as there was a war on the children were returned to Dublin and she most probably died between 1911 and 1920. Hope someone can help me as I have been searching for Rosanna for years - I can't even find where and when she married my grandfather - this she must have done to enable James to take her to India and Egypt. Thanking you. Regards, Jim Gully (Adelaide)
Jim, Take a look at this site: http://www.findmypast.com/MilitaryStartSearchServlet. It was previously known as 1837online.com. I was able to locate birth information for children of my ggreat-grandfather who served with the British military during the period 1860's-1870's. Look for the overseas records. For this ancestor since he was attached to a British regiment all the records were British even though he was serving in various places. I did not find his marriage record on these lists. The marriage record was in Ireland. Contact me directly at gewilks at yahoo.com if you want me to look at the sheets I already have printed out. Have you contacted his regiment? Good luck!
