Hi Shirley. I was trying to find any info on Whiteside families from Ireland for some American Whiteside people who will be visiting Ireland in September. They all have ancestors who emigrated to the US from Ireland. About 4 years ago I visited with several Whiteside families in the USA. As a consequence of that visit we founded the Whiteside Family Association. WFA. It is now going from strength to strength. It has it's own web site at www.whitesideancestry.org if you want to pay it a visit. We also have a yDNA project which has thrown up some surprising family ties. As you must be aware collecting Irish family info is notoriously difficult. Have you put your family on the Whiteside rootsweb site? I checked the Births Marriage and Death registers for a Whiteside birth around the times given by you. Only 2 London Whiteside births for that period were registered. One William James at St. Saviour and William Leslie in Islington. They were both for the 3 quarter of 1890. Of course if Margaret had a still birth then the child would not be registered. I also checked the deaths for 1890 and 1891 and no child death was registered in any of the London districts. If you think that one of the above Williams could possibly be the child you are looking for please let me know off list and I can tell you how to go about finding if the child's parents were your Thomas and Margaret. Only 1 Thomas Whiteside from Ireland is listed in the 1901 census and he is a cattle man, so not your Thomas. Have you checked the Griffiths Valuation of Ireland in Randlestown for Thomas the elder? Hope I have helped a little. If I can help you more please feel free to e-mail me off list. Regards Barbara from Fleetwood Lancs.
Hi Lady's, just a suggestion, and maybe a useless one, but back in the 70s or 80s, there was a Norman Whiteside who represented northern Ireland at football, and was very well known. There is quite a lot of info about him on various football related sites, if you put his name up. hope this may help a bit.
