hi everyone Does anyone know how I could find out what the life expectancy for a female born in co. Kilkenny in 1845. I am interested to know how long she might have lived if she lived in Ireland all her life. Obviously from a poor family. After being born in the year of the famine she emigrated to the Cape Colony as a servant aged 15. She married and had 2 children and the family then emigrated to NZ arriving towards the end of the Maori Wars. Had 2 more children one of whom died. Separated from husband and took to the drink. children taken and put in an orphanage. Took up with another man had 2 children - they were put into an Industrial School. She was in and out of gaol for being drunk and disorderly and died aged 61 in NZ. Shirley
Hi Shirley It sounds like your ancestor had a very tough life. You might find the info you're looking for, or at least a reference for it, somewhere here... http://www.victorianweb.org/history/ireland/index.html Good luck with your research JonB -----Original Message----- From: irl-dublin-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:irl-dublin-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Shirley Arabin Sent: 06 January 2007 00:05 To: irl-dublin@rootsweb.com Subject: [IRL-DUBLIN] life expectancy hi everyone Does anyone know how I could find out what the life expectancy for a female born in co.
