Hi Bill. I might be going whilst I am in Dublin so give me the details. I notice that these graves are not in perpetuity but you should look at the register to see who was the attestant. This will give you their relationship to the family AND their signature which could be useful in identify the person in other documents. No promises here. Regards from Valerie in sunny Sydney. To let you know what happened, I did write to the Mt Jerome Caretaker enclosing a self addressed envelope together with an international postal coupon obtained from my local PO. Today I was delighted to receive from him (her?) a map of the cemetery with the 2 relevant plots highlighted. On the reverse of this, s/he has notated the burials at those plots, date of burial and age. Also there was some information about the achievements and address of one of those buried but I cannot tell whether this is from common knowledge or from records. S/he has not quoted any burial dockets or other documentary or family information. 2) Further help!? Might SKS be planning to visit Mt Jerome, with a camera? I now know exactly where the 2 adjacent plots are, just inside the maion gates and to the right a short distance. Also, with knowledge of the plot numbers, might a few minutes taking notes from the burial registers at the office be possible? I would be supremely grateful. Best wishes to all, Bill Webster Sydney. ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to IRL-DUBLIN-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
If you ask they will tell you who signed for the "interment" That is how I found a daughter. Plot reservations and burials have been filmed by the LDS, details at the following link: http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library/fhlcatalog/supermainframeset.asp?display=titlefilmnotes&columns=*%2C0%2C0&titleno=229851&disp=Cemetery+records. >From these film notes there appears to be an overlapping of dates covered. I think the series of films from 910602 on are actually burials, not registers of perpetuities (plots reserved in perpetuity). I have put a toe into the water and ordered and inspected Film 910603. This is definitely a film of Volumes 3 and 4 (1848 - 1853 and 1853 - 1858) of the Register of Burials. Following is what is revealed in these volumes: Burial number; Name; Abode; When Buried; Age; Disease; From What Parish Removed; Mode of Burial; Place; No.of Grant of Perpetuity; Signatures of Attestation. The 3 burials in this time span that are of interest to me gave the following: 1849 829/8614; Margaret Villiers; Mill View Harold's Cross; Oct 5; 10 mths; Teething; St Catherine; Grave; 6/138; 3799P; Johnstone, Geo Kershaw. 1850 436/9233; Elizabeth Halpin; North Halpin (sic); July 6; 65 yrs;Disease of the Heart; St Thomas; Grave; 6/137; 1415P Johnstone, Henry Digges undertaker. 1854 470/12328; George Halpin; North Wall; July 12; 75 yrs; __; St Thomas; Vault; 6/137; 1415P; Johnstone, Henry Digges undertaker. Of interest to some may be a child said to have died of teething and an undertaker by the name of Digges. I am awaiting the film of the Register of Perpetuities for the same period to see what this may reveal. Bill.
