    3. Linda That would depend upon is status in life, if he had been a politician of some note I would say yes, but I would be more inclined to look to where he lived and what papers of the day were around and what religion he was, now some will say whats that got to do with it, but some of the religions of the day, put out their own papers and the Obituary could be found in that Now in regards to the second part on this mail 1934-1955 may find you with an Obituary written in the local newscopy of the area also it may appear in the above sources. 1850-1889 I would follow the same as I have told Linda Also may I take this time to say that in Australia and also in Ireland an Obituary is a respectful account of the deceased life and a death notice is of his death and of course you know what a funeral notice is for. I have added this, because I am noticing more and more people are likening an Obituary to a death notice Thankyou Cara Obit List Admin for Ireland ----- Original Message ----- From: "Linda Dolan" <linmd@sbcglobal.net> To: <irl-dublin@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, September 06, 2007 8:51 AM Subject: Re: [IRL-DUBLIN] Obituaries; Death/Funeral Notices > > If a person died in say 1870 circa in the Newbridge, Milltown, > Kildare area would it likely make the Dublin newspaper? > > Linda > > > > At 11:09 PM 9/4/2007, you wrote: >>May I ask readers for their experiences of finding obituaries and/or death >>or funeral notices in Dublin newspapers? >> >>I have two time frames. 3. Thank you Cara. In the US a death notice and an obituary are the same thing unless of course no one cared enough to write an obit or it was a private issue, then you may get what you call a death notice. Thanks again Also may I take this time to say that in Australia and also in Ireland an Obituary is a respectful account of the deceased life and a death notice is of his death and of course you know what a funeral notice is for. I have added this, because I am noticing more and more people are likening an Obituary to a death notice
