Cara, If you are looking for an ancestor born to someone while active in the British Military, regardless of their homeland you may find that record at findmypast.com formerly 1837online. The record of birth, marriage and death for the active military and dependents while in service is a British record. Here are the selections: Within this section: Soldiers Died in the Great War 1914-18 Armed forces births 1761-1994 National Roll of the Great War 1914-18 Armed forces marriages 1818-1994 Army Roll of Honour 1939-45 Armed forces deaths 1796-1994 Other army lists roll calls 1656-1888 It is in these lists that I found my ancestors born in Jamaica and Canada West (Toronto). It is a pay-per-view site. Good luck. --- Valerie Garton <vbgarton@optusnet.com.au> wrote: > Corfu is one of the Ionian Islands in Greece where > the British Army > were stationed for many years and hence a place to > look for Irish > folk. > > Regards Valerie B Garton [ Mrs ]in sunny Sydney > A/Dip LAH & Dip FHS. > Researcher in Genealogy > > -----Original Message----- > From: irl-dublin-bounces@rootsweb.com > [mailto:irl-dublin-bounces@rootsweb.com]On Behalf Of > Cara_Links > Sent: Saturday, 14 April 2007 5:43 PM > To: irl-dublin@rootsweb.com > Subject: [IRL-DUBLIN] Patrick Hughes Dublin > > > Valerie > > Where in Ireland is Corfu -??? > > Cara > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Valerie Garton" <vbgarton@optusnet.com.au> > To: <irl-dublin@rootsweb.com> > Sent: Saturday, April 14, 2007 9:00 AM > Subject: Re: [IRL-DUBLIN] Composer Patrick Hughes > Dublin > > > > Patrick HUGHES was born about 1835 in Corfu and > died in Queensland > in > > 1911. > > > > He was listed as " Professor of Music " but I > doubt that he had any > > University training as I can not find him in any > of the Alumni > books. > > > > Regards Valerie > > > > -----Original Message----- > > From: irl-dublin-bounces@rootsweb.com > > [mailto:irl-dublin-bounces@rootsweb.com]On Behalf > Of ibsjackson > > Sent: Saturday, 7 April 2007 10:10 PM > > To: irl-dublin@rootsweb.com > > Subject: [IRL-DUBLIN] Composer Patrick Hughes > Dublin > > > > > > > > Valerie, > > > > What timeframe are we talking about? > > > > I put in a Google Search: Composer Patrick Hughes > Dublin, and it > > came up > > with a lot of websites > > > > The one I clicked on was called: the Spike Hughes > page. > > > > He was born 1908 and died 1987. > > > > regards > > > > Inga. > > > > > > ------------------------------- > > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email > to > > IRL-DUBLIN-request@rootsweb.com with the word > 'unsubscribe' without > > the quotes in the subject and the body of the > message > > > > > > > > ------------------------------- > > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email > to > > IRL-DUBLIN-request@rootsweb.com with the word > 'unsubscribe' without > the > > quotes in the subject and the body of the message > > > > > > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email > to > IRL-DUBLIN-request@rootsweb.com with the word > 'unsubscribe' without > the quotes in the subject and the body of the > message > > > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email > to IRL-DUBLIN-request@rootsweb.com with the word > 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and > the body of the message >
