Definate proof would be Fredericks baptism cert. It's the only doc. where you get his exact birth date, + if he's the right age at his second marriage, then he's your man. But it would have to be a hell of a coincidence to find 2 Fredericks who are house painters + living so near his son, so in my opinion, you have found him. Maggie
Thanks Maggie, I'll probably have a tough time finding old Fred's baptism but thats what it's all about, isn't it. I would agree that the fact that they were both house painters makes me think I'm on the right track but I hate to hang someone on my tree until I'm positive. I think he may have been baptised at St. Michan's and I believe records are available 1795-1822 so that may cover his time period. I may get lucky.
