Hi, I've never heard that Christian name anywhere in Ire. Sounds Latin to me. In RC families, the 1st born son was usually ( but not always) named after thier fathers father. The 1st born daughter was named after the fathers mother etc. In COI families, children were sometimes given the maiden name of the mother or the surname of a closely connected family as thier Christian name. Well this is one time where I transcribed the parish register and note it to be down as Oiverium which as you are aware is Latin, in fact most of the Catholic register was in Latin, but Jeff's problem is in fact trying to locate someone who has a connection to the name Archbold or indeed one of it derivatives.
