Not quite a roll call message. Mary Anne Miller had a child, John, with a David William Wardlaw (Wardlow in BDM index) on 4 August 1873 in Dublin South. I cannot find any marriage date for the two. They may not have been married. My David William Wardlaw (1851-1891), Clerk at the Bank of Ireland, bachelor on this certificate, married Eva Lemon on 1 June 1878 at the Presbyterian Abbey Church, Rutland Square. I want to know if these two were the same man. I cannot find death dates for either John or Mary Anne. My David's brother married in Baptist Chapel, 12c Lower Abbey Street, Dublin, so a first marriage for David may have been there and records may not be digitalised. Any suggestions to prove or disprove this is the same person?
Whilst strolling through a graveyard in Launceston Tasmania I noted two names that are often asked about One was a Wardlaw and the other was Brownrigg, which has intrigued me to ask, did parts of both o f this family name, end up here in Tasmania, other associated name to Wardlaw was the surname Hart, yes it is just an aside, but on a very worrying day, you will all now realise that my mind is never far from those of you researching names in Ireland. Cara Though we are not related to the Tasmanian Wardlaws at least after the 1620s as my Wardlaws arrived in Inveresk, Midlothian, Scotland around that time, probably from Dunfermline . In 1840 my line moved to Dublin. Then in 1919 and 1924, 2 brothers (Richard Norman and Ralph Wardlaw) moved to Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. The record that I have of the Tasmanian Wardlaws is derived from a book, "The Wardlaws of Tasmania", written by Sidney Wardlaw Game (ISBN 0 646 27800 2) in 1996 that shows that his first Tasmanian Wardlaws were Robert and wife Marrion Bennet who migrated from Dunfermline to Van Diemens Land (for those who do not know this was the earlier name of Tasmania) in 1842 with their family. It is not well indexed but I have glanced through the charts at the back and have not picked up the names Brownrigg and Hart. If anyone is interested I can give you Sidney Wardlaw Game's address in Canberra off the list.
