I'm still searching for this elusive gentleman. I now know that he had a brother William and I suspect another, Thomas. He was born in Dublin about 1842. I have baptismal certificates for a James and William baptised 1842 and 1845 respectively whose parents were John and Mary nee Mulholland. But when William died in 1908 his age is given as 69 making him born in 1839. On James' death certificate it gives his parents as Elizabeth and James, a merchant. At this stage I have been unable to find shipping for them to have come to New Zealand where both died in Arrowtown. Thomas is shown on the 1866-67 to 1873-74 Electoral rolls as living in Skippers which is in the same electoral district as Arrowtown. As James named his first-born Thomas and the other William I wonder if they were named after his brothers making Thomas the elder. So far I haven't been able to locate Thomas' death. Any help would be greatly appreciated. June Keating Carterton New Zealand
