    2. Hi Tom, I already tried to order the films at the LDS in Florida but they aren't available. They wouldn't let the parish registers be filmed for that parish. When you check their films it says their is nothing for the Ahamlish Parish. I sure wish I could order them. Thanks for giving me that advise but unfortunately they are not available. 3. Hi Carol I think you have had the right responses for how to go about accessing your records. Probably both the National Library and the National Archives will have the reels although I would try the National Library first. You know that you are looking for Doonshaskin in the Diocese of Elphin and Parish of Ahamlish in co. Sligo. >From Jane Lyon's From-Ireland site here is a list of the records for Ahamlish which are available: Baptisms : Nov 27th, 1796-May 28th, 1829 Jan 4th, 1831 - Nov 29th, 1835 Sept 9th, 1836-Nov 25th, 1845 Jan 2nd, 1846-Dec 31st, 1863 Jan 8th, 1864-March 19th, 1879 Marriages: Dec 3rd, 1796-Dec 27th, 1830 Jan 22nd 1831-Sept 22nd, 1857 Nov 2nd, 1857-Dec 29th, 1863 Jan 18th, 1864-June 3rd 1880 Burials: Nov 26th, 1796-Oct 1822 Jan 13th, 1827 - Sept 24th, 1830 Jan 3rd,1831 - July 24th, 1845 NLI Pos. 4602 I'm pretty sure though that these same records are in the LDS library so rather than spending valuable time in Dublin going through these reels you could see about bringing them in to your local Family History Library and then have time for harder to access sources in Dublin such as land records. 3. Well firstly you will have to register or pick up a guest card, right hand side as you enter the door, desk is manned by Ten so be on time ------ Then you go upstairs, sign in ..........then you must go to the readers room and get a reader and then you need the number of the reader , leave something there while you go back to the desk to place your request for the microfilm you need to look at (Ahamalish) number is Pos.4602, and add your reader number as well. Films will not be left unless you are sitting at that numbered reader when they bring the film up for you. And no you cannot do printouts everything has to be written out in pencil ( pencils supplied ) but bring your own paper to write on. Anyone at the front desk upstairs will assist you, they are a friendly bunch. And you shouldnt go wrong, this is the method I used for 6 months and it never failed me, once only when the darn fire bell kept going off and I had to climb up and down the builders gantry to get out, and stand forever to get back in, got an all clear then finally got back in settled and it rang again......................those are the joys of memories Good luck may the god's be with you in your search. 3. I went not to the National Archives but to the National Libary on Kildare St. You go in and tell them you want to see Microfilm on a specific church. They let you register and give you a pass and send you to a geneaologist on site. He/she talks to you and figures out if you have done your homework and if they have the film. He then insturcts you on going upstairs, picking a machine, asking for the film, etc. The machines will not make copies so take your own pencil and paper. They have 15 or so machine. Do all your can before you go there. OUt of about 15 that arrived when I did. I was only one that had done my homework and knew specifically what I was looking for...all others were told to go home and do their research at home before coming back. They were not rude, but they had a lot of people who had not done basic research on their family asking questions of them....wasting their time. ----- Original Message ----- From: <Stacker2@aol.com> To: <irl-dublin@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, May 27, 2007 3:48 PM Subject: [IRL-DUBLIN] Going to Dublin > Hi everyone, > > I was wondering if anyone has been to the Archives in Dublin?
