    3. I assume you have a copy of the marriage certificate. During this period of time in NSW the amount of information gained during a wedding for the church register was not all required by the government so that church registers often have more information in them. During the depression of the 1920s the Government at the time employed people to go to the church registers and record all the other information which was then added to the original marriage certificate which a note saying that columns 4,7,9, for example have been added later. Not all of these records were accessed so it is necessary to go back to the original record - which of course we should all be doing. If you want more information on the church record you could ask The Society of Australian Genealogists if they have filmed these church registers and for a fee of A$40 a volunteer researcher will look this up for you. 2. Hi Cara... Yeovil is in Somerset, England.? This young Samuel came to Ireland to work and married Maria Leslie.? Apparently, her father got him into some sort of debt and he wrote for help.? His letters are at the National Archives.? While I have learned a fair amount about his family, I cannot find out what happened to him or his wife and children.? While the marriage appears in a published list of marriages, so far the record has not been found. The records state that Maria was living on Henry St. in Dublin.? Leslie does seem more prevalent in Cork, and there are Rawlins' in Cork as well but this marriage took place in Dublin.? Thanks so much! 1. [IRL-DUBLIN] INDEX TO WILLS LOOKUPS EXPLANATION
    2. Cara_Links
    3. Dear Dublin, Wexford, Wicklow, Clare, Carlow listers Some of you will not understand the content of this mail, but I must write now to the list and say this I do not wish to make it a discussion topic, simply to state the facts as they are. It appears that people are not happy about myself doing any research anywhere anymore, but I really must say this, I have and always have had an agreement with Enneclann to use their products, after all it is only an index, and I cannot supply the full data, that may be available on a Will or a Marriage Licence or anything indexed on the Enneclann produced wills Index CD The end result would be if anyone was to need these articles in full they would have to either follow through to the original compilers of the CD or approach the National Archives in Dublin. So a lookup is not out of order. So to those of you who took the time to write off to Enneclann, thankyou, because I yet again, now have an agreement with Enneclann to use their product. I remain as always true to my courage and believe in the freedom of sharing. So for those I have helped in the past,or to those I may help in the future, good luck in your research. 1. Re: [IRL-DUBLIN] INDEX TO WILLS LOOKUPS EXPLANATION
    2. Hi.. I would like to weigh in here. The purpose of these Rootsweb lists is to share information. This means from sources available! I have seen an occasional situation where a professional genealogist who publishes his own material has gotten static from the big companies, but this appears to be rare. Frankly, these companies should welcome the lookups as free advertisement. Often, if someone has sent me some useful info from a book or cd, I go ahead and buy it for myself. Cara's contributions to the list are a "Godsend" in an area where genealogical study is so difficult! I know that the list administrators are cautioned to beware of commercial enterprises...but let's face it....if we didn't share what we find...or attempt to keep a list going by doing some "good will" lookups, many of these lists would cease to exist. My THANKS to all who have helped me in Dublin and the rest of IRELAND. They have kept me from getting discouraged and abandoning my research all together!! 3. Hi Cara I have very little info what I have is storys told by my gr grandmother their grandaughter She said they left dublin intent on going to New York, Anastasia's parents were with them, she gave their names as Joseph & Mary Kelly from 'the foot of the wicklow mountains', Mary became ill & died so they settled in liverpool. My nan had a bit of the blarney in her and some storys were greatly embellished but usually Ive found her storys to be fairly right Laurence & Anastasia eldest son laurence jrn was brn 1848 in dublin he became a french polisher, Laurence 1821-1885 occupation was only ever described in census records as labourer, their 2nd son was a Isaac B 1849-1851 in Liverpol the name was reused many times in our family their eldest daughters name was Mary brn 1852 - 1891 in liverpool (my line) they were RC and very devoute Anastasia, Laurences wife was born 1826 in Dublin she died 1888 in Liverpool, and that other than naming order of children are the only clues Im not in Ireland so have to rely on the net do you know if there are any web sites that may help in my search Kind regards Glen ----- Original Message ----- From: "Cara_Links" <cracker@hotkey.net.au> To: <irl-dublin@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, August 01, 2007 6:43 PM Subject: Re: [IRL-DUBLIN] re-SKS > > > Registration of Births began in 1864 and was compulsory, and doesnt cost > to > register, but in the time frame you are looking at > they will most certainly would have been placed in a parish register when > baptised and this was their form of registration > And as most parish priests were probably paid in kind I feel that your > family of Nolans would have been a God Fearing family and have registered > them. > Because the parish priest would have called on them in those days to make > sure. > > What you are needing to locate is the Parish that they are from to locate > the parish register you will need to look into. > Have you any other clues of where they are from other than Dublin? > DO you know what they worked at before leaving Dublin? > and what religion were they I am assuming RC but they may have been Church > of Ireland or wheelbarrow or something. > > Regards > Cara Toole > Cara_Links > Researching -Irish Headstones, and Linking Irish ancestors. > Toole, Critchley,Beatty Byrne, Murphy,O'Toole,Barry- > Wicklow, Wexford, Dublin,Clare > > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "glensi" <glensi@xtra.co.nz> > To: <irl-dublin@rootsweb.com> > Sent: Wednesday, August 01, 2007 10:30 AM > Subject: Re: [IRL-DUBLIN] re-SKS > > >> Yes thanks Norma not my fellow my lawrence was definatly born Dublin Ive >> checked that lawrence's records and he is no connection my lot were very >> poor and I feel registering their many offspring wasnt high on the >> financial >> list >> >> regards Glen > > > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to > IRL-DUBLIN-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the > quotes in the subject and the body of the message
