    3. There are two entries in 'Irish Placenames', O'Laughlin that may be of interest, Bride River and Bride East. Both are in the north of the county. There is nothing for Malagarry. As for names, the thing to do is to get a guide to Irish family names and take a look at for any close variations. If your man left for the US in 1889 then it is possible that his birth was registered; civil registration began in Ireland in 1864. One of the many websites on Irish family research will tell you how to go about checking for a birth entry.
