Message text written by INTERNET:IRL-CORK-CITY-L@rootsweb.com >Hello Bill, I can't answer your query for certain but quite some time ago I did find my relatives in the 1911 census, ordering the film at the LDS using the details I had kept from the 1901 (i..e. ED refs.). Now I realise that the McCarthy name is prolific in Cork but would you by any chance have Mary Ellen McCarthy (my grandmother), in your tree. Mary was born in 1875 to Francis and Ann (nee Gallway) McCarthy at Coppingers Lane, Cork City. She married my grandfather, John James Hallinan also of Cork City, in 1897 and they lived at Old Chapel Lane (now Cathedral Walk) before leaving for England a few years later. Regards Sandra Researching HALLINAN and McCARTHY in Cork City< Bill and Sandra I too am searching McCarthy in Cork city, in this case Protestant McCarthys, at least from the early 19th century. I do not know where they lived yet, but there is an 1829 marriage and some 1830s baptisms in Holy Trinity C of E before they left for Glantane in north Co Cork. Elizabeth KnowltonEW@Compuserve.com
