    1. [IRL-CORK-CITY] SULLIVAN-CORKCITY-KILNAMARTYRA
    2. Greetings all: I am trying to locate a John Sullivan - O'Sullivan who lives near St. Ann's Shandon in Cork City. His father was John who was born on May 22, 1916 on a the family farm in Gortenaden, Kilnamartyra, Macroom, Co. Cork. I believe the mother was named Hannah and she was a Cork City girl. I believe they had two sons - John and one other. The father, John, was killed quite young in the war. He died on June 16, 1942 and is buried in Malta. Because of the early death of the father, these young men never had the opportunity to know their extended family. The son John went to Kilnamartyra at one point looking for family and sadly he talked with the wrong people who told him no one was there any more. While that might be true, there were people who could have led him his family in England, Canada and the US. Some time ago he met a couple named O'Leary at St. Ann's where they had gone to ring the bells. This John happened by and advised them that because it was a holiday they could not do so. They chatted with this younger John - even had a drink with him in a nearby pub - but did not know they were related, even though they did chat about Kilnamartyra. So...if you live in Cork City, near St. Ann's and know of a John Sullivan - O'Sullivan who's father was born in Kilnamartyra, please tell him his family is looking for him and would be happy to hear from him. This is long, I apologize, but I thank you for reading. Donna
