    3. Hello from Kev Young in Australia. My g-g-Grandmother Ellen Mellifont(formerly Ellen Byrne)lived at 3 Evergreen Street Cork for many years and died on the 19th of March 1888 while still living at that address. The family attended St.Finnbarr's (South Chapel),and Ellen married Patrick Mellifont in that church in August 1834. I am trying to find where Ellen would have been buried, which may hopefully also lead me to where Patrick was buried several years later. I have been in touch with the very helpful Joe O'Reilly at St. Finbarrs, but he is unable to help. Would anyone on the List be able to help,-even to look up a death notice in an old newspaper which might give some details? If anyone can help,I would be happy to assist you with research work in Australia. Other names of interest are MELLIFONT(Cork) and MARGARET SUTTON,daughter of Thomas Sutton and Mary McCarthy.MARGARET was baptised at St.Finbarr's on the 6th of December 1839 and married THOMAS MELLIFONT,also at St.Finbarr's,on the 16th of February 1861.Thomas(my g-grandfather)and Margaret emigrated to Australia on the ' Chatsworth' in 1862. Does anyone have a connection? Kev Young youngnt@bigpond.com

    3. Hi Kevin, Evergreen St. is very close to St. Joseph's Cemetery on Tory Top Rd. which has a very helpful superintendent. If you have no success with him let me know and I will check the local newspapers to see what I can find. Be aware however that not all deaths at that time made to the papers. The next most likely cemetery would be St. Finbarr's on the Glasheen Rd.
