Posting interests: My wife's ggrandfather was Bernard McKenna. He gave his birthplace as Ireland when his daughter was being married in Liverpool. He was then a police inspector. She gave her birthplace as Liverpool on the 1901 Census, but family lore has it that she was born in Cork - no details of exact location. If she was born in Liverpool, he must have been there in 1875, because that was her birth year, but I have been unable to find the birth registration. Therefore I do not have a clear sense of direction from here. Were births in Ireland and Irish Census' not included in British statistics? What info is available on the net? Have I missed any obvious steps to shedding more light on Bernard and his daughter? Any suggestions welcome. Alan Williamson
