Alan, http://www.rootsweb.com/~fianna/guide/lds-bdm.html has a list of LDS film numbers for the indexes to civil registration of BMD's in Ireland and starting dates, also information on other pages re irish records/research. Quite often, the ages given on census returns were a wee bit off, you might want to search the births indexes starting a few years before 1875. http://www.pdevlinz.btinternet.co.uk/index.htm has some McKenna family details, a granduncle of mine, James Hanratty married Sarah Anne McKenna. Perhaps Bernard McKenna was from one of the northern counties, being in the police, he probably would have served in an irish county where he did not originally come from, Cork is a possibility for where he was married, and the birth of his daughter. You could try a search of the IGI on the LDS family history website for her birth, limiting the search to Ireland, but don't get your hopes up! Colman Ahern, Berkeley.
