Both were shown as Shop Keepers, Cornelius of 14 Castle Street and Mary of 18 Leitrim Street. Their fathers names were Thomas McDonnell, Traveller and Jeremiah Ambrose, Farmer. Witnesses were Daniel O’Donnell and Celia Canty. The 1911 census return for 96 South Main Street shows my father as the only child and Cornelius is now listed as a Commercial Traveller Hosiery. Cornelius is now 30 years old and his place of birth is City of Cork, Mary is also 30 and her place of birth is County of Limerick. Requests for birth certificates of Cornelius and Mary c1881 have been returned as no matching entry. I would also search for Thomas on the 1901 census--Cornelius is probably still living at home. 30 is a very rounded off sort of age. Looking at another census would give you another idea of their ages. Then you could rent the birth indexes and search yourself. Someone on this list can probably suggest a church to check for Cornelius's baptism, but St Patricks would probably be a good place to start since Mary did not come from Cork at all. Elizabeth
