Hello fellow listers. As a new subscriber, I wanted to take the opportunity to post my interests and see if anyone shared them or could offer assistance or advice on how to proceed. My father was Thomas Christopher MCDONNELL born at 96 South Main Street, Cork City on 26th May 1909. His parents were Cornelius and Mary McDonnell (nee AMBROSE). The birth certificate shows Cornelius occupation of Traveller. I have Cornelius and Mary marriage certificate from 28th April 1908 showing their place of marriage as Church of St Patrick, City of Cork. Both were shown as Shop Keepers, Cornelius of 14 Castle Street and Mary of 18 Leitrim Street. Their fathers names were Thomas McDonnell, Traveller and Jeremiah Ambrose, Farmer. Witnesses were Daniel O’Donnell and Celia Canty. The 1911 census return for 96 South Main Street shows my father as the only child and Cornelius is now listed as a Commercial Traveller Hosiery. Cornelius is now 30 years old and his place of birth is City of Cork, Mary is also 30 and her place of birth is County of Limerick. Requests for birth certificates of Cornelius and Mary c1881 have been returned as no matching entry.
