    1. KEARNEY from BALLINCOLLIG
    2. Terry & Eileen
    3. I am searching for any details of my great great grandparents, Patrick KEARNEY & Mary DELANEY and their families, both from Ballincollig, County Cork in the late 1850's. Patrick Kearney was born circa 1831. His parents are given as Timothy Kearney and Mary Sheehan. His father Timothy's occupation is shown as a labourer. Patrick was a bootmaker. Patrick arrived in Geelong, Victoria, Australia in 1859 or 1860 and married a Mary Delaney in October 1860. His marriage certificate states that he was from Ballincollig, County Cork. His wife, Mary Delaney is also shown as being from Ballincollig and her parents were Morgan Delaney (occupation - farmer) and Julia O'Brien (sometimes shown as Brien). Mary DELANEY (spelt DELANY on the shipping records) left Liverpool on the "Dione" (1174 tons) on 27 November 1858. The ship carried about 168 passengers. Mary appears to have been accompanied by her brother, Morgan DELANEY and their cousin, Michael DALY. The voyage was scheduled for 140 days - the ship arrived in MELBOURNE in April 1859. I would appreciate any information on these families or would like to hear from anyone who thinks there may be any connection to these families. I would also appreciate any advice as to how I would go about tracing these families further back. Regards, Terry Kearney, South Oakleigh, Victoria, Australia.
