John Thomas Bacon was an apothecary in Patrick Street, City of Cork in the years from 1805 - 1811 (Holdens Cork Directory) Also in 1787 Holden's Cork Directory: John Thomas Bacon is an apothecary in North Main street Note my own 5x great grandfather Robert Stevelly appears in the same Directory as Silk Mercers & Haberdashers, North Main street so they most probably knew each other and shopped at each other establishments! :- ) No sign of Francis Guy in either of these Directories: A Richard Bacon qualified as an apothecary in 1815, also a Richard Bacon in 1801 and a William Bacon in 1804. William Bacon was a Coal dealer and publican at East Beach, Cove, Co Cork in 1846. http://www.sci.net.au/userpages/mgrogan/cork/apothecaries.htm http://www.sci.net.au/userpages/mgrogan/cork/slaters_cove.htm Richard Frederick Guy lived at 23 Mary Street, Cork in 1824. As for Francis Bacon, it seems he was an Englishman tried and true, born in London. However you could join the discussion on this webpage and see if there might be a Cork connection: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Francis_Bacon Then there are the famous Francis Guy's Cork Directories: http://www.askaboutireland.ie/show_narrative_page_by_place.do? page_id=3066 Therein I think might lay your man!
