We recently visited Cork where we found my wife's GGF's (Francis Guy) house. Above the front door to the house there is the name Verulan. Looking up Verulan on the web I was surprised to find that Francis Bacon was Baron of Verulan particularly as Francis Guy's mother was Ann Bacon, daughter of John Thomas Bacon and Abigail Newman of Cork.
