Hi, Jan- Apparently the sponsors of these bills refiled in the fall of '05, but did not change the date of implementation, which was January 1, 2004. This could affect the bills, but they may also just allow for a typo. These folks seem to have made several attempts at closing the records. Perhaps we should not only send emails to the Mass. legislators, but also STRONGLY encourage the Governor to veto the bill, should it make it to his desk! All the tourist dollars that will be lost should these records get locked up could have an impact, let alone the loss of family medical histories, etc. I'm sure other people can come up with more reasons to keep them open - I sure don't want to have to produce DNA to prove that I need my family history!
