Hi List! I am a new subscriber. I am researching the family of my direct ancestor MATTHEW LESLIE born in 1755 in Cork. He was the son of CHARLES AND ANN LESLIE. Matthew had three brothers, CHARLES HENRY LESLIE, JAMES LESLIE and JOHN LESLIE and three sisters - one of whom married Samuel FALKINER and was the mother of a Sir Riggs Falkiner. I am trying to find out more about Matthew Leslie who died a fabulously wealthy man in India in 1804- having assets in India and Ireland. I wonder if his brother is the CHARLES HENRY LESLIE who founded the Gunpowder mills in Ballincollig. It is said that this Charles Henry Leslie bought out his partner in 1804 - and, by coincidence, that is the year of my Matthew Leslie's death and his will leaves his brother Charles a handsome legacy. Could it be the same Charles? Is anyone researching this family or can anyone tell me more about the family of Charles Henry Leslie of Leslie's Cross, Wilton (founder of the Gunpowder Mills and later Leslie's Bank) so that I might determine whether there is a link between my Matthew Leslie and his brother, Charles HenryLeslie.
