Hello Anita, According to John Grenham, "The official destruction of the returns for these two years [1861 & 1871] was commendably thorough. All that remains are transcripts in the Catholic registers of Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford (1861), and Drumcondra and Loughbraclen, Co. Meath (1871)." If the children were born in 1864, or after, their births would be in the civil registrations held by the General Register Office (<http://www.groireland.ie>). The birth indexes are also available through the LDS (Mormon) Family History Centers. See <http://www.familysearch.org> for FHC locations. James Prescott's military records may be held at the PRO.
